It was a wonderful evening at the Lakewood parade. So nice to see so many people participating and gathering around to see the parade. The weather cooperated so nicely. Thanks to the friendly Lakewood YMCA staff who invited me to ride in their bus with my grandson and great-grandson who loved waving to everyone. They were walking along the route passing out apples which were greatly appreciated by the kids. What a wonderful annual event for our city.

It was alot of fun. We really liked the food trucks. Unfortunately there were alot of older kids present that were rather disruptive and acting like a bunch of animals. I think the police needed to have a stronger presence. Also...... Was it me or were there no extra garbage cans available? Other than that my daughter had a ton of fun and we're so happy that Lkwd does this. Very lucky tolve here :))))

Hi - yes it was great! how about some of these ideas for next year to make it even better!
1. Have a competition where those attending light up lakewood have a chance to vote for the best window holiday display downtown. announce the winners later in the week.
2. encourage all shops downtown to be open and have great window displays.
and sales of course just for light up lakewood
3. print a coupon book that is good for say the hours of 12 noon to 9pm on the day of light up lakewood. so much off at the stores that decide to participate only during that day, those hours. get folks early into lakewood and have them shop, dine and eat all day- help our local businesses!
4. offer some raffle tickets with great prizes pre the event for a different local lakewood charity each year. announce winners at event.
5. encourage more street performers, street musicians, mimes, folks on stilts, make it a carnival/festival fun like atmosphere with a holiday theme all over detroit ave!
6. have more marching bands and floats! take rides in classic automobiles!
7. have holiday showing tradition of the film IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE or WHITE CHRISTMAS in the auditorium of the Library as another option to do during light up lakewood. have an early and late night showing. first come first seated. or maybe make it a fundraiser for the library?
Lets encourage our city leaders and business community to make this event a highlight of the NE OHIO holiday season!

Parade and fireworks aside, we got freebies, coupons, karaoke, raffles, ice carving all for FREE as we walked along Detroit. Saw the Grinch, Santa, Elves, Frosty, Elf (from the movie), and others walking around and even riding on the bicycle sleighs. Free pictures with holiday background, saw real reindeer, and Siberian Huskies we could pet. There was music in different places for every musical taste. The FREE stuff brought all of us down there. Then it was our choice where we ate dinner, which we did. As well as what souvenirs or purchases we made while we were there or in the future as the businesses who wanted to be represented had a table on the sidewalk.
I've seen your business owner perspective posts before Ian and you are missing the point. Free and local is what brings families out in this economy. If you want to offer something to us get a table on the sidewalk, decorate it and give us whatever you would like as all of the others did last night. Maybe it will drive many of us to your business. Whining about a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY NIGHT where I heard not 1 other complaint isn't the way to go. What business do you own Ian? Do you live in Lakewood? I know what I would tell you if I was a city leader regarding the highlight of NE OH. This is for Lakewood residents and friends. It had just enough people that it was safe and welcoming for all of us which is who it is for Ian. Perhaps the city you live in could pay for your extravaganza.

Loved the kids in the window on northeast corner of st charles and detroit. They did a great job of staying still and only changing positions every minute or so. We had a great time.
