Lakewood Police Department asking the public's help identifying a theft suspect.
The Lakewood Police Department is asking the public to help identify a suspect wanted on charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
The photograph was snapped Feb. 13 at a bank ATM near the intersection of Belle and Madison avenues. The man in the photograph is using a debit card stolen from a nearby bar earlier in the evening.
The bartender told police that someone snuck behind the bar and grabbed her purse, which contained her $300 earrings, a wallet and her debit card.
A short time later, someone tried to use her card at the bank, said Lakewood Police Det. Terry Miller.
But the suspect didn't have the pin number.
"I can’t say he’s the person who took the purse, but I can say for he sure he was in possession of at least some of the contents of the purse," Miller said. "We’re in a holding pattern until we can identify (the man photographed)."
Almost three weeks have passed, and detectives have interviewed a few people matching the description, but no matches.
"We’re getting lots of hits," Miller said. "Nothing’s has panned out the moment."
Police are asking residents if they know identity of the man photographed, to call Det. Terry Miller Lakewood Police at 216-529-6764.
