Volunteers Needed: Want to Help Build a Home in Lakewood?

Two Habitat for Humanity homes will be built in Lakewood this summer. Organizers could use a hand.

Two Habitat for Humanity homes will be built in Lakewood this summer.

Volunteers are welcome.

The homes at 1549 Lakewood Avenue and 2070 Dowd Avenue need some help to get finished.

“We’re always looking for volunteers,” said Paul Lentini, site manager for Habitat for Humanity. “Some people are more comfortable working at the ReStore and some are more comfortable working on the job site.”

For more information, or to volunteer, call volunteer coordinator Kim Pride, 216-429-1299.

Habitat for Humanity is a great organization!

Go check out their ReStore at 2110 W. 110th St (near Berea Rd).

www.clevelandhabitat.org/Restore/

Every time I go in they have new stuff. Furniture, cabinets, windows, screen doors, bathroom fixtures, tubs, sinks, appliances, tiles, tools, nails, lighting, etc.

Some of the stuff is brand new. You'd pay an arm and a leg for lesser quality stuff at the big box stores.

How does it end up here?

People remodel their McMansions. They don't like their 'old' still perfectly useful cabinets, etc. So they get rid of it!

Contractors have to pay to dump it in a landfill, so they drop it off/donate it to the ReStores instead.

Win/win for everyone!
