Tech Firm Continues Its Growth in Lakewood

Onix Networking, with its partnership with Internet-giant Google, adding jobs and filling up the space of its new home in the former Bonne Bell headquarters.

Onix Networking — a global information technology firm— has a new feather in its cap.

The company, following the move of its headquarters to Lakewood last May, announced this week that it’s now a Premier Enterprise and Premier SMB Reseller of the Google Apps suite.

What’s that mean?

For starters, it means more jobs in Lakewood.

Onix, a long-standing partner with Google, is one of only a handful of companies in the world authorized as a Google Premier Enterprise company.

In 2002, it was also the first.

“It’s a big deal,” said Karen Masuga, the company’s spokeswoman, adding that Onix employees must undergo special certification from the Internet giant.

Of the 38 positions at Onix — there have been a handful of new hires, with more on the way — most of technical employees have been Google-certified.

In a statement, Tony Bianco, president of Onix’s cloud computing division, said that the Google partnership is a “critical component of our business."

"Our customers have been benefiting from our superior level of service and customer-focus for years relative to Google Enterprise solutions,” he said.

Onix officials expect the company to continue growing into its nearly 40,000-square-foot location in the Georgetown Row half of the former Bonne Bell headquarters at the corner Detroit and Graber avenues.

“We’re here, we’re growing and we’re committed to being a part of this community,” said Diane Maloney, the company’s marketing director. “We keep expanding.”

Founded in 1992, Onix provides services that include cloud computing, geospatial information systems, Enterprise search, storage solutions and secure wireless solutions. The company's customers include Internet-giant Google and various levels of government.

The company moved from Westlake in May.
