St. Edward Throttles Akron Buchtel
In just about every way imaginable, the Eagles are too much for the Griffins on the football field at Lakewood Stadium on Saturday.
The St. Edward High School football squad extended its record to 2-0 after pummeling Akron Buchtel High School at Lakewood Stadium on Saturday night.
The Eagles took advantage of the Griffins, both offensively and defensively, shutting down Buchtel, 48-0.
According to St. Edward's football blog, six different players scored touchdowns as the Eagles registered their "second consecutive convincing victory."
"Using two quarterbacks and a dozen wide receivers, the Eagles racked up 500 yards of total offense en route to the resounding victory," according to the report. "It marked the first time in history that a St. Edward team defeated a team from Buchtel, which plays in the Akron City Series."
The two schools had met only twice before — both times more than 20 years ago — with Buchtel winning both games by close margins, according to the report.
