St. Edward Grappler Domenic Abounader Commits to Michigan

Abounader, who is ranked the 20 among the 20 best wrestlers in the country, picked the school to stay close to home.

Domenic Abounader, the two-time state wrestling champion from St. Edward High School, gave a commitment to wrestle at the University of Michigan.

The Plain Dealer reported that Abounader, a resident of Gates Mills, picked Michigan so that he could stay close to home.

Abounader is expected to compete at 182 this year and 184 pounds at Pitt, according to the story.

The commitment came after Abounader visited — and ruled out — Virginia and Virginia Tech, reported the Plain Dealer.

Earlier this month, teammate Edgar Bright committed to wrestling at the University of Pittsburgh
