St. Edward Golf Team Qualifies for State Tourney

It’s been five years since the Eagles have competed in the state tournament.

The St. Edward High School golf team is headed to the state tournament in Columbus this week.

That’s after the squad finished fourth at last week’s rainy district tournament at the Pine Hills Golf Course.

The squad is led by brothers Joey and Anton Krecic.

Rounding out the team are sophomore Wil Bethune, freshman Danny Zahn and senior Adam Abele. The are coached by Bill Menz.

Earlier this month, the squad finished first at the Sectional tournament.

A story on the St. Edward High School website notes that the Eagles’ performance at the district tournament marks the first time a St. Ed’s golf team qualified to the state tournament since 2007.

The Eagles finished fourth in the district and qualified along with Aurora, Walsh Jesuit and Medina.
