Spring Stroll & Fashion Show Coming in May

New event allows customers a new way to connect with merchants

Spring time has sprung and the winter — such as it was, or wasn’t, this past season — is long gone.

So with an aim towards getting people out to enjoy the city’s shopping district on foot and meet other members of the community in a casual way, the first Spring Stroll & Fashion Show will be held May 6 in downtown Lakewood.

Developed by the Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance, a program of LakewoodAlive and Downtown Lakewood, the event is meant to show off
the town.

“It’s a great chance for people to visit with local merchants, to get into the stores, to see the really great mix of retailers that we have, eat some free food samples, some prize giveaways and some freebees and a way to walk around the district,” Ian Andrews, executive director of LakewoodAlive, said.

The fashion show will feature pieces from Paisley Monkey, Geiger’s Clothing and Sports and Lion and Blue and be held at the Masonic Temple. Tease Hair + Body Parlor will be preparing the hair designs for the models.

“It’ll be a nice a thing for mothers and daughters and girlfriends to go out and really just stroll up and down the downtown district,” Andrews said.

There will be coffee bar selections sponsored by Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance in association with Virginia Marti College of Art & Design. The Root Café will provide coffee.

Check-in begins with complimentary gifts and brunch items from 1-2:30 p.m. at Plantation House. The fashion show and coffee bar begins at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. at Masonic Temple.

Ticket sales are limited with presale prices at $20 each. They can be purchased at SpringStroll.com or at Rozi’s Wine House, 14900 Detroit Avenue.

On the day of the event, tickets are $30.
