Spooky Pooch Parade Slated for Saturday

And, a little farther west on Detroit Avenue, the Cleveland Craft Coalition is hosting its “Spooktacular” event at Around the Corner.

There’s no world record at stake this year, but the Spooky Pooch Parade will again march through downtown Lakewood featuring costumed canines — some spooky, some cute.

The fifth-annual parade will step-off at Detroit and St. Charles avenues at 2 p.m., then head west to the Lakewood Public Library and back.

Hundreds of dogs are expected to participate.

There will be prizes for the best-costumed dogs. Judges will select the Spookiest Pooch, most creative dog and child, most original adult and dog, best dog and group and best non-motorized float.

“It’s going to be great,” said Ian Andrews, the director of LakewoodAlive. “People are going to be bringing their dogs downtown, and we’re going to be closing down the street. It’s a lot of fun.”

It’s not just a parade, either.

Dozens of vendors will line St. Charles Avenue — at the St. Charles Green — and activities all afternoon.

“We’re going to have a great day."

Hundreds of dogs not your thing?

Farther west on Detroit Avenue, the Cleveland Craft Coalition is hosting its October Spooktacular event at Around the Corner from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will feature the artwork of dozens of local artists.

The art will also be for sale, because as the event listing puts it: “supporting local and buying handmade is awesome.”
