Last week, when we reported that the Red Rooster convenience store had closed, we also asked for suggestions on what business should move into the vacated store.
Your suggestions roared in.
Seems that the topic of storefronts on Detroit Avenue’s East End is something of particular interest to Lakewood Patch readers.
And with its busy location, across from Lakewood City Hall, the space isn’t likely sit vacant for too long.
We took a few of the readers’ suggestions and put ‘em to a poll.
When you’re done voting, feel free to add to the conversation in the comments section.

Zappitelli's Pizza is the overwhelming favorite based on 18 votes. Really? Lakewood already has more pizza shops per person than downtown Manhattan. If we're going to get more restaurants, how about something different?

Thank you for someone for saying it. The amount of pizza places is outlandish. We could put in a Turkish place, Swedish, or hey maybe even Brazilian! But please, no more pizza. There are enough already, just walk or drive to one of those.

Zapitelli's is much more than just a pizza shop....Adam Carrol is truly gifted in the kitchen and is being forced out of their current location due to parking issues.... are you kidding me? We need people like Carroll and less of the current trend towards corporate chains on Detriot Ave.

"Truly Gifted in the Kitchen"? I've never even heard of this Zapitelli's place.
I don't mind if the pizza place goes in but then we need other pizza places to start going away. There are just too many. I still believe it would be better to put another type of place in there we need more ethnic variety.
