Do you feel safe in Lakewood?
The FBI released its annual report of crime statistics for 2011, which compiles the number of violent and property crimes in cities across the country — in Lakewood.
Crime is on the decline in the city, and, as city officials have pointed out, most of the reports stem from property crimes — such as petty theft.
In fact, of the crimes committed in Lakewood, theft was the highest reported — 795 of them were reported last year.
But city officials have also pointed out that it’s not only about how safe residents are — but how safe they feel.
So how safe do you feel in Lakewood? Do you feel comfortable walking down Detroit Avenue at midnight? How about walking in your neighborhood?
Do you worry about burglary when you're away? Have you been targeted by vandals?
