Police Connect One Burglary to Another
Lakewood police have connected one of the recent Lake Avenue burglaries to an 18-year-old Arliss Avenue man arrested last week during a burglary in progress.
Lakewood police have connected one of the recent Lake Avenue burglaries to an 18-year-old Arliss Avenue man arrested earlier this month during a burglary in progress.
The man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary after a resident in the 13000 block of Lake Avenue told police that there was a burglar in his house at around 8 a.m. Feb. 4.
The man, carrying a large knife, took off on foot however police caught up with him near The Carlyle moments later.
Lakewood Police Chief Timothy Malley said there have been nearly a half-dozen burglaries in the past month in the neighborhood.
The man was connected to one of them and faces an additional burglary charge.
The crimes were similar: During the daytime, with phones, an iPod and laptop computers stolen, Malley said.
He said police recovered one of the stolen laptops from a home on Warren Avenue.
Three of the other recent burglaries remain unsolved.
“He’s not a suspect in the others,” Malley said. “We don’t have any evidence — that doesn’t mean he didn’t do them.”
