Police Cancel Rush Hour Pursuit

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lakewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

Rush hour pursuit called off

Lakewood police canceled the pursuit of a driver who fled from a traffic stop on Athens Avenue at Chesterland Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. Feb. 22. The car sped up and turned onto Lakewood Heights Boulevard, then headed west on Berea Road. Because of heavy traffic, the officer canceled the pursuit.

Drug charges for men urinating in parking lot 

Police were notified about two men urinating in the parking lot next two Fire Station No. 2 at around 9:30 p.m. Feb. 17. The caller said he smelled marijuana and the men were acting suspiciously. When officers arrived, they found them in possession of marijuana.

Grand theft

A vehicle was reported stolen from the street in the 2000 block of Wascana Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. Feb. 19.

Thief in pajamas

A man wearing pajamas stole alcohol from Sapell’s Bi-Rite at around 10:30 a.m. Feb. 16. He was arrested and charged with petty theft.

Drug trafficking

A man was charged with drug trafficking following a traffic stop at the intersection of Madison and Lakeland avenues at around 11 p.m. Feb. 16.

Youths throwing bottles at passing cars

Police received a couple of reports of four juveniles in a car throwing bottles at other passing cars on Detroit Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 16. Police were unable to locate the juveniles.

Student punches her teacher

A female student at Harding Middle School was arrested and charged with assault after she punched her teacher at around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23.
