You’ll find old school style and sophistication, not playground antics, at Tease Hair and Body Parlor.

Lifelong Lakewood resident Nora Swift, a mother of three with her fourth on the way, opened the parlor in early November and has been thrilled with the business at her high-traffic location on Detroit Avenue in the heart of downtown.

You can sip from her grandmother’s china while enjoying an array of hair, skin and body services and specials such the “Tease Me” facial – a half-hour, four-enzyme facial that has delightful price of $25.

Embracing what she calls the “Lakewood vibe," Swift has mindfully decorated her storefront location. Think antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, unique workstations and an eclectic collection of decorations – much of which was purchased at antique stores in the city or are heirlooms donated by family members.

“I have a family here and I have lived in the city my entire life so I really want to gear the salon for the whole family and also keep it affordable so everyone can enjoy the services,” said Swift, who owns the salon with her husband, Mwale Kakusa. “A lot of times you go to really nice salons but they are so expensive.”
