Northeast Ohio Republicans: Issue 2 Fight Could Hurt GOP In Ohio
Our Republican Insiders say last year's fight over collective bargaining rights could hurt the party's chances at winning Ohio's electoral votes in this November's presidential election.

Will the Republican-led effort to limit collective bargaining rights for government workers in Ohio hurt the GOP's chances in this year's presidential election?
More than half of the Republican insiders surveyed by Patch say it's too soon to tell or that they didn't know.
But 14 out of 50 of those surveyed think the Senate Bill 5 / Issue 2 effort, led by Republican Gov. John Kasich, will hurt the GOP's chances in Ohio.
Only four of 50 responders believe the fight will help the Republicans.
Issue 2's effect is also seen in what Ohioans our Republican insiders would like to see as a running mate to Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Only one said they wanted Kasich, perhaps the politician most damaged by the Issue 2 ballot defeat, to be vice president.
"I think that killed the governor," said one Republican who took the survey. "I supported the governor, saw him and voted for him. I’ve never seen people so angry about anything before."

I learned one thing from issue 2. I will NEVER vote for anyone with R next to their name again. It was an attempt to sell out ALL working people. It's a shame, because I have voted for more R's than D's in my lifetime. I have never seen a piece of legislation soo evil. The R's true colors showed last year. SHAME SHAME

I blame Red for the Economy, Bush took over a surplus and sent us to war in search of weapons of mass destruction. The best economy was under Clinton.

There is a difference in annual surplus and national debt. There was an ANNUAL surplus in 2000 under Clinton, but there was still trillions in national debt.
Also, the roots of the housing crisis (which led to the economic problems in 2008) are traced to under Clinton, when the thinking began that everyone should be able to own a home. Thank you Barney!

I was just about to say the same thing lyn... many people often think our Nationa Debt was in the black after President Clintons term... This is BASIC econimics... Clinton and Congress at the time worked hard and were able to have a budget surplus and that IS GREAT! President Obama has ZERO political clout and that's what seprates him from Leaders like Reagan and Clinton!

There were many things I liked about Clinton and both Bush men. But I can't say the same about Obama.

Those are the actual numbers... Clinton + 8 years = Nat. Debt $5.7 trillion. Bush + 8 years = Nat. Debt $10.7 trillion. Obama + 3.5 years = Nat. Debt $15.9 trillion. It's not hard to understand...

If Democrats in Ohio were smart (for once), they would use the current position (hypocrisy) that Ohio Republicans are taking regarding Kasich's proposed tax cut by FAIRLY taxing the gas/oil industries that are invading Ohio.
The Ohio Republicans -- including Roegner (who didn't like a big business/corporation she didn't like, the right-wing corp-whore she is) -- are, once again, siding with big business and playing "taxes will drive them away" card (which is a bunch of crap, which is usual with the current crop of Republicans).
Instead of standing up for OHIOANS, they're defending big business to come in here, making $$ hand-over-fist and not have to pay a fair % of taxes (which are still lower than neighboring states) -- even though they'll STILL make $$ hand-over-fist.
I would primarily use that against them -- big time -- because Republicans today love to talk about cutting/lowering taxes. Well, here is their chance and they've continued to REFUSE to do so-- all because of big business and to protect their huge contributors from oil/gas companies.
