Mayor Michael Summers may have handed out the Key to the City to Steven Ott, but make no mistake: Summers was the star of the show at fifth-annual Mayor's Ball at Beck Center for the Arts on Saturday. “The arts are a vibrant part of our community with significant impact on our local economy,” he said. “We are pleased to support this cultural gem to ensure the arts continue to be affordable and accessible to all residents.”

Hundreds showed up on the red carpet at Beck Center for the Arts on Saturday evening, as Lakewood Mayor Michael Summers hosted the fifth-annual Mayor’s Ball to benefit the arts organization.

And with tickets for the event starting at $125, the Mayor’s Ball raised thousands of dollars for the Beck Center.

“The arts are a vibrant part of our community with significant impact on our local economy,” said Summers in a statement. “We are pleased to support this cultural gem to ensure the arts continue to be affordable and accessible to all residents.”

Among the hundreds who turned out were local elected officials, business owners and community leaders.

Summers awarded Lakewood resident Steven Ott with the Key to the City of Lakewood for his years of volunteerism and civic support.

All the proceeds from the raffle will benefit the quality theater and arts education programs at Beck Center for the Arts. The event also featured a silent auction to benefit the Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation.
