LOOK: Kauffman Park Plans Unveiled
Bryan Evans, the volunteer designer for an upgraded Kauffman Park, led a presentation of the new plans on Wednesday. He shared some of those plans with Lakewood Patch.
Following last Wednesday’s public forum at the Lakewood Public Library to discuss proposed changes at Kauffman Park, volunteer presenter Bryan Evans sat down with Lakewood Patch to go over his slide-show again.
Evans, who’s on the LakewoodAlive design committee, partnered with Friends of Kauffman Park to volunteer planning the redesign of the park. The three ways, he said, to make the park a destination: education, exploration and entertainment.
The images in the PDF at the right are not set in stone, but rather “inspirational” renderings, Evans said, meant to “get people thinking about how this could look.”
...Rather than “ordering the first swing-set in the catalogue.”
“It’s certainly an ambitious plan — but there’s nothing in here that’s not attainable,” Evans said. “I wouldn’t work on this if I didn’t think it wasn’t possible."

Why will any of these plans be different than the 'Little Links' disaster?

It's a great idea! I'm sorry I missed the info-night at the Library. How do we help make it a reality?

To those who are interested in helping us make this happen, please get in touch. Kauffman Park Friends has been getting by with a skeleton crew lately, but once things get going, we are going to need some additional active members. Contact us anyway you want, but here's my email: danalaimo@gmail.com

The Splash Pad would be awesome! I wish we had something like that nearby to take my young son to in the summer... He loves the public pools but I think the fountians would be a big hit!

Bravo! Just FYI, Lorain Metroparks is building a beautiful, all inclusive playground so children with disabilities can play, and they have great ideas for all park users. I believe it will open in Amherst.
