Obviously the chamber *wasn't* empty on that idiot's gun. As long as guns are available to people, idiots will hurt and kill themselves and others.

When guns are not available to anyone it will be criminals and idiots who will have guns and citizens will forever be at their mercy. Who will the idiots be then to have allowed our constitutional rights be altered to allow only those whom we can never trust be those in charge?

Obviously this guy didn't follow the four rules of firearm safety. I'm guessing he merely "racked the slide" instead of visually checking for an empty chamber. It's something that happens now and then when shooters of all skill levels get complacent. Heck, this probably happens to a few cops a year throughout the states.
For the unintiated, the four rules are:
RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET
Some semi-auto handguns require the owner to actually pull the trigger to disassemble the handgun. Obviously this step shouldn't be done until double and triple checking that the chamber is clear before performing this step.

lakewood is going down hill fast...too many housing choice vouchers --especially in ward 4 (east side) --which, in theory, can be a good thing since it help out the poor folks...but its a bad thing if you own a home you because it lowers the median income which in turn lowers property value , raises crime, and brings (generally) less educated neighbors to your area. lakewood is becoming part of ghetto cleveburgh rather than becoming an affluent suburb. i suggest that you move to cities west of lakewood.
