Lakewood Man Pleads Not Guilty to Vehicular Homicide
Timothy Spock, 35, is accused of driving drunk, killing Lakewood resident Mitchell Andelmo, of Lakewood, and Basil Bass, of Cleveland, at last month’s Dancin’ in the Street festival.
A 35-year-old Lakewood man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he killed two and injured two others after driving drunk and plowing his vehicle into a crowded Cleveland street party last month.
Timothy Spock, of Beach Parkway, is expected to appear in court again on Monday to face charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.
The crash killed Lakewood resident Mitchell Andelmo and Basil Bass of Cleveland.
According to the police report, the street on Clifton Boulevard was barricaded at West 117th Street and east of that location because of the Dancin’ in the Street festival. A vehicle was traveling eastbound on Clifton Boulevard and struck the barricade, drove over it and into a crowd, which was in a tented area.
The festival is one of Cleveland's largest LGBT fundraisers run by the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland.
The vehicle struck five people who were taken to MetroHealth Medical center for treatment — Bass and Andelmo later died as a result of their injuries.
A blood-alcohol test found that Spock had been drinking alcohol prior to the crash, according to police.
Last week, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brian Corrigan set Spock’s bond at $150,000 cash/surety. He’s being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail.
