Lakewood Bicyclist Recovering After Hit-Skip Crash
Cleveland police are looking for the driver involved in a crash that left Lakewood woman, Elizabeth Deering, with several injuries.
A Lakewood woman is recovering from her injuries after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle in Cleveland on Saturday.
However, Cleveland police are looking for the driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene after the crash.
The vehicle was described as a late 90s model, gold four-door with damage to the front or passenger side, according to 19 Action News.
The driver turned left onto West Boulevard, and struck Deering as she rode her bike along Clifton Boulevard on Saturday night.
She was taken to MetroHealth, where she was treated for a broken collar bone, torn spleen, collapsed lung and a knee injury.
According to her Facebook page, Deering said that she's "bruised, scraped, and sore, but hanging in there."
Frank Lanza, Lakewood resident and friend of Deering’s, said she was on her way to a group bike ride when she was struck by the car.
Lanza, himself an avid cyclist, warned about riding a bike in that area of Clifton.
“I will ride anywhere,” he said. “But that part of Cleveland is so dangerous to ride. Coming off of the (Cleveland Memorial) Shoreway, people drive so fast."
Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to call the Cleveland police.
