Golden Arches Go Up, But McDonald’s Opening Delayed
The opening of the new McDonald’s on Detroit Avenue, expected this week, is postponed.
The property that once featured classic films on the big screen, will now offer Big Macs and Happy Meals.
However, the opening of the new McDonald’s on Detroit Avenue — which was expected this week — has been postponed.
Mike Lewis, the area real estate manager for McDonald’s, said the project has had some “slight delays.”
While the doors were expected to open today, the asphalt still needs poured and the striping on it still needs to get done — along with some other loose ends.
“We’re trying to get it open as soon as we can,” Lewis said. “I know we’ll meet the original Oct. 15 deadline.”
The Sloane Avenue location closed its doors on Sept. 15, and the Nature’s Bin natural foods store is expanding into the space.
The Detroit Theatre was demolished earlier this year to make way for McDonald's.

Come on leaders/City Council of Lakewood! Can't you try and get more healthy choices for downtown Lakewood eateries? No more hamburger, deli preserved meat, pizza, fried food joints pleeeaaaase! How about trying to entice PEI WEI to open in downtown Lakewood or a smaller version of BAC in Tremont. While most cities in the USA are trying to reduce their citizens waist lines, we here in NE Ohio just continue to get fatter and fatter - and health costs continue to rise. I guess that is why most hospitals are expanding here - unhealthy eating choices eventually will provide no vacancy hospital beds!

Can't wait to eat here. I lover burgers. haha. Every city in the USA with a population over 16 has a McDonalds. You're really surprised/angry? I guess there's a shortage of other controversial news in this town that you're angry about a fast food chain building a new store in the 15th largest city in Ohio.

Some want the leaders/City Council of Lakewood to try and get more healthy choices for downtown Lakewood eateries?
Citizen's choices of where and what to eat are not to be dictated by government enities ...??? ... In a free and capitalist society these things are regulated by supply and demand ... People get what they want ... and if that is carbs, grease and nitrates ... well ... that is what pays the rent and taxes ... If you want to go healthy head for Aladdin's or the Hospital Cafeteria ... Ciao

Construction has been slow on this project similar to CVS downtown and Drug Mart Plaza. Every day construction drags on, is that less money in McD's coffers. When you see how quickly the GetGo site on Detroit/Bunts is moving along. Demolition was done in 2 weeks. We'll be pumping gas in no time.
