GV Art + Design Opening on Detroit Avenue

World-renowned Etch-A-Sketch artist and his family set to open a brick-and-mortar operation on Detroit Avenue.

George Vlosich’s world-famous Etch-A-Sketch collection will now have a permanent home.

So will the art/design/advertising business that he’s launched with his father, brother and close friend.

GV Art + Design is expected to open its doors at 17411 Detroit Avenue sometime in February.

“We’re going to sell T-shirts and apparel,” he said. “Along with that, we’ll also have some limited-edition stuff.

The business will also feature artwork, including some of the Etch-A-Sketch pieces.

Vlosich is an Etch-A-Sketch artist and some regard him as the world's best. He started his art when he was 10 years old, fiddling on his mother’s old Etch-A-Sketch in the back seat of the family car during a road trip to Washington, D.C. He drew the U.S. Capitol building.

Since then, his work has been featured around the globe.

The store is the perfect venue for the entire family's creative outlets.

“It’s really going to be a showcase, as well as our store,” said Vlosich, who quit his day gig at an advertising agency to pursue the passion with his father, George, and brother Greg, and friend Mike Gorman.

“We really want it to be a cool destination spot,” he added.

Following an extensive renovation, the store will take up two storefronts in the block across from St. James Catholic Church.

One side will be the office, and the other side will be the studio.

“It’s the right spot,” said Vlosich, who grew up on nearby Larchmont Avenue. “We like the idea of being back in Lakewood. We have good support.”

It was, indeed. I received a couple emails about that, too. It read 14711 Detroit Avenue; the correct address is 17411 Detroit Avenue. Looks like I mixed up the 7 and the 4.

Thanks for posting.

How fun. I cannot wait to tell my son he is 21 but loves Etch-A-Sketch. I wish you had set up shop in Rocky River.
