Fugitive of the Week Captured Because of a Tip

Another man turned himself in after learning he had been profiled as a fugitive of the week.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has had a couple of victories already this week: they captured one wanted fugitive on Monday and another turned himself in.

According to information from Ryan Helfrich of the U.S. Marshals, Darvell Smith was captured on Monday. Smith, who was wanted for burglary, was the fugitive of the week for Oct. 22

Helfrich said there was a tip on Monday that Smith might have been hiding in a home near the 1800 block of Haldane Road in Cleveland. The task force responded, along with the Cleveland and Euclid police departments, and found Smith hiding in the attic. He was taken to the Euclid jail, where he is still being held on burglary charges.

Additionally, this week’s fugitive of the week, Ace Mason, turned himself in after learning that he had been profiled, Helfrich said in an email. Mason was wanted for abduction and felonious assault.
