The realtors' perceptions of the condo market may be true. I had a friend visiting from Chicago and she couldn't believe a condo she saw at the super deluxe Meridian Condo Building on Lake Avenue. She said a comparable condo, if you could find it in Chicago would be at least $ 500,000! The one she looked at with a Lake Erie view, private balcony, plus indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis court, and a 24 hour gym was under $200,000! -- with indoor parking space included! She said the Meridian Condo Building seemed like it was a hotel with all its amenities, including a 24 hr. doorman!, and wish she could relocate here just to live at the Meridian! Based on my friend's glowing praises about the real estate bargains in Lakewood, I think Lakewood's powers that be should aggressively advertise Lakewood's affordability and its Lake Erie/Big City of Cleveland proximity. We often forget how beautiful Lakewood is and how great our cost of living is compared to so many other cities in the USA.

Ian, I had family members from Chicago (downtown dweller) and Dallas visit recently and they, too, remarked about the low prices for condos and homes in Lakewood.
I don't think $300+K for the townhouses is such a bargain, however.
A note of caution to anyone thinking of purchasing - find out any major repairs or updates that owners will be assessed for. I know of a building that had extensive underground garage repairs and the assessment per owner was quite steep. Not sure how to find that information out but it's a good question to ask.
