Eddie and Eddie’s to Open This Summer
Eddie and Eddie’s — a new restaurant owned by Northeast Ohio restaurateur Eddie Cerino — announced last year that it was opening at the corner of Warren Road and Detroit Avenue.
Burgers, bourbon and apple pie are still coming to Lakewood.
It's just taken a little longer than expected.
Eddie and Eddie’s — a new restaurant owned by Northeast Ohio restaurateur Eddie Cerino — announced last year that it was opening at the corner of Warren Road and Detroit Avenue.
Now residents know when: This summer.
Construction build-out of the 5,500 square-foot space space in the renovated Bailey Building is well underway.
A sign announcing the opening hangs in a large window along Warren Road.
With the opening of University of Akron’s satellite campus in the building, the timing couldn’t be better.
“We think it’s one of the top-ten restaurant locations (in the Cleveland area),” Cerino told Lakewood Patch last year. “We’ve gotten to know the folks at Deagan’s and Melt. We thought we’d bring in a restaurant that complements both of those locations.”
Eddie and Eddie’s is not all about location.
The menu’s influence is as all-American as apple pie — which will be one of the restaurant’s staples.
Cerino’s grandmother, Carrie Cerino, owned several successful bakeries around Northeast Ohio. Eddie Cerino followed in her footsteps, opening a hip burger joint in 1985 called Fast Eddie’s.
Since then, he’s opened and operated a few successful restaurants, including Pizzeria Cerino, which he still owns. He also started, and later sold, the popular Eddie’s Creekside in Brecksville.
Cerino said hopes to build on the family’s experience in the restaurant business — and his talent making good burgers.
The main entrance — at the corner of the bustling Warren/Detroit intersection — will greet customers with views and smells of freshly baked good (including the buns for the burgers).
On the other side: a bar featuring top-notch bourbon. Both Eddies spent a considerable amount of time in Kentucky distilleries researching quality bourbon.
Cerino said that Lakewood is the perfect fit for the new restaurant.
“We know Lakewood is committed to keep the city growing and vibrant and we want to be a part of it,” Cerino said. “People in Lakewood appreciate quality, good service and they love local. That’s our kind of customer.”
