Dinner Plans? Diversity Potluck Set for Tonight

Community Diversity Potluck open to all residents for an opportunity to meet their neighbors and celebrate the community’s diversity. And, of course, eat. Just bring a covered dish.

The Lakewood Community Relations Advisory Commission is asking residents to come to the Lakewood Women’s Pavilion at Lakewood Park tonight for dinner.

But come hungry, bring a dish and meet your Lakewood neighbors.

In partnership with Lakewood High School’s race and diversity organization, the advisory commission is hosting the Community Diversity Potluck for residents to meet their neighbors and celebrate the community’s diversity.

The fifth-annual event is set to take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

High school students will present a video describing immigrants' assimilation into Lakewood.

“It’s mainly a social gathering so people can get together — with food as the centerpiece,” said Melissa Garrett, spokeswoman for the city of Lakewood. “It’s an opportunity to sit down with people you don’t know, and haven’t a had chance to meet, and get to know a little bit more about them.”

The potluck dinner is open to all Lakewood to residents — at no charge.

Just bring a dish and come hungry.
