A new clothing store is filling up one of the last remaining vacancies in a renovated and very visible building in downtown Lakewood. 

Avalon Exchange, specializing in new and used clothing items, is expected to open at 15006 Detroit Avenue on Friday.

An employee at the Avalon Exchange store in Squirrel Hill, PA, said the Lakewood location is the fourth store in the company. 

“We buy, sell and trade new and very desirable items,” said the employee. “We separate ourselves from traditional thrift stores because we carry top designer, vintage and other contemporary items.” 

The company began in 1988 as a vintage clothing store, and found success because of its “constantly changing inventory including designer labels, vintage, denim, leather, current basics and one-of-a-kind items,” according to the Avalon website.

In addition the store also sells new merchandise and accessories.

The Lakewood store is the company’s fourth location, and the second in Ohio. The other Cleveland-area location is on Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights. 

The store will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
