Cash Mob at Nature's Bin Attracts Some Serious Attention
From MSNBC to the Chicago Tribune, it seems as if Saturday's Cash Mob at Nature's Bin was the media's darling over the weekend.
Hundreds of shoppers showed up at Nature's Bin on Saturday to participate in the city's first "Cash Mob."
Unlike flash mobs, the idea behind cash mobs is to swarm a local business to support it with money on a given day, said organizer Andrew Samtoy.
And a swarm it was.
The store was the site of a media frenzy as reports about Lakewood's cash mob went global.
From MSNBC to the Chicago Tribune, it seems as Saturday's cash mob became the media darling for the weekend.
Samtoy said the group picked Nature’s Bin because of its involvement in the community.
Shoppers were encouraged to spend $20 at the local food store.
As many as 100 people were expected in just a couple hours — but more than that showed up.
Lakewood Patch blogger Cari Gornik stopped in to the event.
"(I've) never seen it so packed," she said.
