Case of Animal Cruelty Leaves Two Cats Looking for a Home

Animal cruelty comes in different forms.

A curious case occurred last Friday when two cats were abandoned and left in a taped-shut box in an alley near the .

According to the incident report, two cats — one male and one female — were discovered by a nearby resident and taken to the Lakewood Animal Shelter on Metropark Drive.

“I'm saddened by the story, but not too surprised,” said Dawn Pyne, the president of the Citizens Committee for the Lakewood Animal Shelter. “CCLAS will do everything we can do to help these cats find homes - hopefully these siblings can be adopted together.”

The cats are now looking for a home.

Anyone interested in adopting them are encouraged to contact the  at 216-529-5020. Their collar numbers are 202 and 203.

Adoption fees are only $35. That includes deworming medicines, initial vaccination, capstar flea pill (seasonal), a collar with identification tag, a cardboard carrier, and initial veterinarian visit with second vaccination from participating local veterinarian.

Adoption hours are from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
