Bodybuilding Championship Event Comes to Lakewood

More than 800 attend event at Lakewood Civic Auditorium.

 

More than 800 people attended the "Muscle Mafia" bodybuilding and fitness expo event at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium on Saturday.

NPC Natural Bodybuilding championship event had 154 contestants.

Proceeds from the event, $6,200, were donated to the American Cancer Society — a contest record.

The winners were: Heidi McFrederick, 34, of Ashland, a mother of four and a personal trainer at the Ashland YMCA, won the Figure Open Overall category; Rebecca Moore, 50, of Willoughby, a grandmother and retired registered nurse who survived a double aneurysm and stroke in 2005, won the Overall Women’s Bodybuilding category; Derek Charlebois, 27, Royal Oak, MI, who is the Director of Marketing for "Scivation,” won the Overall Open Men class; Ashley Kaltwasser, 22, of Akron,  a bartender at David B's won the Overall Bikini class; Josh Bowman , 21, of Hilliard, who is the fitness manager of "Metro Fitness" and is a double All-American both academically and athletically at Heidleburg University, won the competition’s Overall Men’s Open Physique category.
