Clarification: Awards for Fourth of July Parade Handed Out

Grand marshal recognized; several groups, organizations awarded for parade entries.

Clarification: Fourth of July Parade award winners have traditionally been recognized at the second council meeting in July. From Lakewood Spokeswoman Melissa Garrett: We want to be able to formally recognize the winners and that meeting is our first opportunity to do so. Due to City Council docket deadlines, the Fourth of July is always past that deadline so we would be unable to notify the winners and recognize them at that meeting.

City council handed out a few awards Monday night for the participants in the city's Fourth of July Parade.

Mickey Krivosh, owner of Three Birds and Around the Corner, was recognized as this year's grand marshal of the parade.

Also, council honored five winners of the parade's contests:

The Best Color Guard: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Edgewater Post No. 387.

Best Float: Brennan's Floral Gift Shop

Most Original Entry: Beck Center for the Arts

Best Bicycle: Lakewood Division of Aging

Most Spirit: H2O "Help to Others"
